Amsterdm, the Netherlands
We are looking for a pianist who can play "Black Gospel Style" for our FIreChoir concerts--which is a black Gospel choir. The choir consists of around 45 people. Interested? <<CLICK HERE>>
The MUSIC:
We are performing a total of 14 songs. Most of them can be hear via the play on this page.
We will send you the scores as well as the audio tracks to listen to. There is enough time for any good musician to learn the music. Naturally it is to everyone's benefit to practice and know the music. Keeping within the structure of the music, we encourage improvisation. We understand not everyone reads music, but are equally as gifted and capable of doing an outstanding job just improvising. As long as you are able to follow the music as it is on the CD (an as scored) the ability to read music is not essential.
The BAND:
We have a small 6-piece band which will accompany the choir. Drums, Percussion, Accoustic guitar, Bass guitar, Electric guitar, keyboard, Sax, 2 Violins. We are still looking for another keyboard player to play brass parts.
We have been unsuccessful in finding a pianist capable of playing black Gospel style, jazz or improvise adequately. Piano is crucial for a good sound and we are hoping someone from the States can come here to Amsterdam and perform with the FireChoir and band for our two concerts.
The REHEARSALS:
The week of the concerts we will have 3 rehearsals:
Monday evening, 7:30 pm with band and choir
Wednesday evening, 7:30 band only
Thursday evening, dress rehearsal (band and choir)
The AUDITION:
We would like to hear a sample of your playing. We request that you send us a wav, mp3 or YouTube link of yourself playing something that shows your ability to play black Gospel music.
The CONCERTS:
We are performing 2 concerts:
First concert will be on April 23 in Amsterdam at 8pm. This will be filmed professionally by a television crew. DVDs will be available.
We will have a short rehearsal/warm-up before the concert.
Second concert will be in Brussels, Belgium. We will leave Amsterdam at 11am Saturday morning, arrive at Christian Centre in Brussels at 2pm, setup, rehearse from 4-5pm, have a catered dinner, and perform our concert at 7pm. We hope to be back on the bus at 10:30pm and return to Amsterdam by 1:30am Sunday morning.
HOUSING:
We will provide you a place to stay as well as all the meals.
Tuesday will be the only complete day off at which time we can do some sight seeing! There is a lot to do and see in Amsterdam.
You will probably be staying with the Raughts (missionaries) who live next to the airport.
MONEY:
We request that the sending church provide your Air Fare to Amsterdam. Missions credit can be received for this.
The Bus trip to Brussels will be paid for by the FireChoir.
Again...all meals and lodging are provided.
The only extra finances that would be required would be any souvenier purchases, extra sightseeing and such expenses.
AIR FARE:
The average air fare to Amsterdam on this date (assuming the flight is booked sooner rather than later) is.......
